Hi Mark Drawing is definitely a drawback using speech recognition, but I'm not into that anyway. I have seen a demo and was very impressed, but the price is way out of reach for me. My mouth stick cost $2.00 to build and I replaced the tip every year or so for a dollar. When I was first injured-1990-I was fitted for and used a Tongue Touch Controller, it was very cool and I could use X-10 automation and control my computer with that. I even tried out the wheelchair that was designed to be run by the Tongue Touch Controller. However there was a problem with my unit, and we cannot afford to purchase another one. I believe there's a person on this quad list who still has one of the controllers.
One of the big advantages with Tongue Touch Controller is that the tongue muscle never gets tired-which is great for those of us who like to talk J. Where do you live in the UK? I lived in the UK from 1966 until 1970 in Cheshire and we showed dogs for those years. I had Alsatians-German shepherd dogs-I was fortunate enough to show at Crufts, still enjoying watching the show every year. I can draw, edit photos, moving files folder etc is much easier. Have you ever seen one being used. Just a thought. It is not a quiet environment so speech recognition does not work well. I do have dragon installed on that machine, but very seldom use it as it is an older version and I also need to use the mouthstick to control the computer. Three years ago I got a laptop with Vista so I have been using that speech recognition program. I just upgraded to a larger laptop-my Christmas present, purchased our black Friday-and it has Windows 7 so I am using that speech recognition now. I usually use the laptop in my bedroom. One of the benefits of using a mouthstick is that it makes me exercise my neck! I find that I have to consciously exercise my neck when I'm using speech recognition-the mouthstick makes me exercise.
