Both my Social Worker and DME say that Medicare does not pay for disposable pads. Medicaid is different in each state - my state doesn't pay for them either.

I have medicare and medicaid. I don't know which are covering them, but I'm allowed quite a bit each month. I get them through the pharmacy where I get my catheter supplies.

Does anyone know if the blue pads are covered by Medicare? I understand they are not.

For the first 15 yrs we were buying blue pads and ky ourselves. Mentioned it to my case manager one day and she said it would be covered by either Medicare or Medicaid with a doctor's order. Sure enough, checked with a local supply company, they contacted my doctor and they have been
covering the cost the past 5 years. We use them for bowel program in bed.

I get UNDERPAD 23X36 DISP BLUE 10/PK x 6 monthly. We cut them to get more.

Also get:

50 CATH SELF 14FR 16" (use to clean and reuse now are covered)
2 KY SURGILUBE LUBRICANT 4.250Z (1 for bowel program, 1 for cathing)
4 GLOVE MED LATEX PF MEDLINE BX/100 EA

Whatever Medicare does not cover Medicaid does, zero cost to me.
