Derrick,

My sphincter use to tighten up almost every time we changed my catheter. I
had a
friend who was a quad (since deceased and I do miss him) that told me to use
injectable xylocaine to release the sphincter and it works wonders, releases
it right now. I have been doing this for years and my doctor had no problem
writing me a prescription for it. We insert the catheter to the sphincter
inject about 1cc of xylocaine into the catheter, wait about 10 sec and we
are through the sphincter. You would probably want to check with your doctor
before proceeding to make sure he's ok with you doing this. You will need a
prescription from him any way ,
