I would not have settled for getting it back UNTIL it had been checked out IN THEIR PRESENCE and BEFORE you found out the problems. Whenever I have that anything done to my chair... everything is checked out before it leaves their property.
Doing/settling for anything else (or less) is pure folly/borderline stupidity. It sounds like you have a bunch of Mickey Mouse, uncaring vendors up there! I have never had to go more than one day without my now 12-year-old Permobile. Having said that however... all my best to you!
