Greg, I don't see any reason why you can't be knocked out for this procedure. I'm assuming you are getting it done by an oral surgeon?? If so, they should have an anesthesiologist on hand to help control the situation. I know it's a little bit of a different situation, but when I got my SP inserted, I was out for that. Think about asking again, or possibly getting a second opinion, or a different dentist altogether. Who knows? Maybe you're looking forward to the pain…

The Army wouldn't pull impacted wisdom teeth without using an oral surgeon and I can tell you that it was not as bad an experience as I have seen other people deal with. Good luck.
