That bowl of oatmeal each morning was suppose to absorb most of those meds and help with the bowel program. Best Wishes In a message dated 5/31/2011 5:51:21 P.M. Central Daylight Time, [email protected] writes:
I have almost got my bowels back in order. It seems I was taking in too much fiber, in addition to an antacid, omeprazole, which was really messing up my bowels. I had to cut down on my veggie burgers/chicken/sausage and almost eliminate the Metamucil. I was using Metamucil in order to give me some consistency in my movement, but this was over stimulating my bowels. I use 2 tablespoons of mineral oil and one small amount of Mylax (spelling) about six hours before I do my bowel regimen. My bowel regimen still takes forever, but at least I feel pretty decent in between bowel movements. Would go several days with nothing, bloating and gas. I had been putting off a colonoscopy because of the hassle. J Discussing this with my Dr. and he suggested, especially since I was totally cleaned out, that I take 1 tablespoon of Benefiber and 1 tablespoon of Miramax daily, and then experiment with those amounts to find the best for me. We have finally settled on 2 tablespoons of Benefiber per day and 1 tablespoon of Miramax. He was also very insistent that I use only those two Brands and not a generic version. My bowel care is back to 10-15 minutes daily with the occasional 30 minutes. No more serious bloating, gas, were or feeling as though I was stuffed into a too tight sausage skin. We don’t do anything except digital stimulation as I have a phobia about suppository use after seeing my mother suffer in her later years from overuse of suppositories for constipation. Because I have a severe lactose intolerance I need to be very careful when eating out so I will occasionally have problems from that, because it can really mess up and my whole system. Why don’t you talk to your Dr., Or go see a gastroenterologist and see if there is not a simple solution? Good luck, it consumes so much of our time anyway but it is a relief to not be waking up in the middle of the night with horrible cramps and mild AD every single night. Joan
