I’ve had a nagging sore just left of my tailbone, It’s .5 x .4 cn wide, about .5 cn deep, then it tunnels about 1.6 cn to 1 o’clock. It got as bad as a 2.7 cn tunnel at one time. It’s been over 6 months now. I’ve been going to a Wound Clinic. I go for debridement to get the dead tissue removed. I know it’s better, but It would go away faster if I just left it alone. But that would leave a pucker / dimple on the wound. Then it could break open much easier in the future.
I just got my chair fixed and hope it will help with the sore now. The lower back was not padded very well and unless I reclined a lot, it left lots of pressure right on my sore. At the repair shop we realized there was a 1 inch pad under my cushion. It was there to raise me up a bit because I’m tall, and my legrests would often scrape on thing when going up / down ramps. After taking the pad out, I sit an inch lower, so the chair back no longer pushes on that area. I just have to be more careful now going up/down ramps. So I’m hoping my sore will heal up faster now. Greg ----------------------------- I finally got my wheelchair. Wheel chairs are more comfortable than regular chairs for me because they do not let my feet dangle. I'm on the shorter side so I have that problem. This chair is better suited to me because it doesn't put pressure on my tailbone which causes me a lot of problems. The bottom that I sit on doesn't go all the way to the bad of the chair, it is about an inch shorter and it makes such a difference. I'm not sure if they ordered it that way because of how the doctor wrote the prescription or what, but I am thankful for that. It is a Invacare Tracer and has a nylon type fabric seat covers instead of the leather/leather like and so my back doesn't sweat. The legs of my old chair used to have a weird bolt like appendage that would hit my legs a couple of inches below my knee which caused a callous and this one doesn't have that so hopefully the callous will go away.
