Subject: Re: [QUAD-L] More fecal musing

There is a great article in New Mobility Magazine this month about
infections, caused by abrasions on exposed feet of paras and quads in the hot
months.  The abrasion is washed or clean with soap that may create further
chemical irritation and internal infection as it travels thru the blood stream
of the leg. This could cause a full blown leg infection and more serious
issues.  The Moral:  keep the toes protected and feet covered while
you are out n about.
Best Wishes

Dang Larry, my leg and foot hurt just reading your emails.  In 25 years of
quad- I have never had an infection like this, but you can bet I will jump
quickly at the first signs should I ever get one.  As unpleasant as this is to
think about, I appreciate your posting it and the comments of others on how
important it is to act at the earliest signs of infections.  It almost seems
like common sense, and I suppose it is, but like you I don't think I would
have been too concerned had I seen those early symptoms.

The redness has receded a bit but swelling is still outrageous. See a
surgeon today to see if he thinks any of the hot mess needs debrieding
(sp?)
I know I'm preaching to the choir, but this never-ending crap gets so very
    old.
