Playing the "what if" game is a surefire way to drive yourself crazy. If I hadn't had my spinal cord injury... I might've found my dream job, my dream girl and my dream house. Or I might've been killed in boating accident two days later.
I've found that peoples' experiences with SCI vary greatly depending on many factors (personality, family support, faith, pain, life philosophy, etc.) It's kind of like asking people about their high school experience: for some it was torture, for others the best days of their lives, and for most it was somewhere in between. Certainly none of us chose this situation. I'm thankful for every day I'm here, but I also acknowledge that I don't suffer from chronic pain. I'm glad we're here to help support each other. Don.
