I am familiar with the syrinx, because I have one. Doing is not allowed to get an MRI because her accident was due to kids playing with a gun in the house and she was accidentally shot in the neck, she has metal fragments from the bullet in her neck. She also has a UTI about every 6 to 8 weeks like clockwork. Her GP is completely useless as far as following up with the UTI checks and she won't go to a urologist unless it is absolutely necessary.
When I went to college and stayed in a dorm I was seven years post and could get myself in bed, on dress, dress, and transfer into my chair and also I could take a shower by myself. When I moved into my apartment 10 years post I could transfer in and out of bed but had a tub in my apartment. So I know what it is like to be able to take care of myself if I have to, although in the past 25+ years I've had Pete with me and he has spoiled me so terribly that I don't do anything for myself anymore. I asked my family not too long ago "What am I going to do if anything happens to Pete?" My youngest sister DeeDee said she would take me in and take care of me. It was such a load off my mind and I had always feared that I would be put in a nursing home. Ron, I think this is a conversation you need to have with your family now and not wait till you may not have a choice.
