Rehab was awesome after the year and a half in a nursing home. I got a lesson in marriage when I left rehab and started college. I spent more time moving than anything else. I think that's what I remember most. Funny part is I can't remember who got away with my old clothes and cars. The hospitals found all my money. No curiosity in that. I think I tried to look on the bright side of things more than I do today. Back then folks were surprised I was alive. Today, everyone is a lot more ambivalent. Including me. john s

Coming home was a lot of fear and discontent. My parents were into a lot of disagreement so I spent my days on the streets rolling around with my Walkman looking for friends. This method actually got me a lot of services at the time because I was noticed. My parents divorced soon after as well. I tried moving in with my mother and all she did was cry and read the bible. I called my dad to ask to come home and he told me a famous line "boy if you come back all I can offer you is a little food, water and heat and Im leaving at 2pm for work". The short end to a long story is I came back. Remember the highlights of my days were when the OT and PT came to visit and work with me. So very grateful I am no longer in that marriage and am happier now than I was before, despite my " accident". Hugs!! The smells of MANY different things is what I remember most, instead of antiseptic cleaning Solutions. Next thing was the narrow doorways, unlike those in hospitals and rehab. Next was the phone. When I was injured in 1973 we still had rotary phones, I learned in rehab how to dial a rotary phone. Bobbie Smile Everyday
