Thank you all for your responses. The last time I had to have the cable replaced my daughter (who is 18) and my brother fixed the dealers crappy job. The 1st stop I made my door didn’t open (yes they refunded the labor). My daughter and brother have become rather educated (fortunately/unfortunately) in fixing door and ramp problems.
We looked at cable today but the 3/32 vinyl coated was much bigger around than what is on my van. However, it wasn’t aircraft quality and was not as bendable/soft. The 1/16 uncoated appeared to be the right size but since it had no coating……I opted not to chance ruining the pulleys on the motor and then being out the cost of a motor. J So, I’ll be making an appointment to have it replaced but I will insist on them letting me “direct” them that the loose end of the loop has to be on the outside rather inside of the screw. That little issue is what was causing the door to hang up as it rounded the curve. I was hoping someone had a connection that I could order the cable from J Thanks guys! Some use vinyl coated while others do not, depending on the year. This product is not sold at big box stores or hardware stores. It must be cut to the exact length and you may need a "yoke" and "cable stops" at the motorized take up and release spool. The cable must go thru the tensioner, which is spring loaded. This provides contact tension on the cable and spool so that it doesn't jump. I guess that is why most dealers will not sell them "the kit" to consumers. Also you will need a special crimp tool for the yoke and end stops. Best Wishes In a message dated 6/23/2015 7:54:05 P.M.
