First, you cannot use rubber coated or certain vinyl coated cables on the door closer. The rubber or vinyl will wear through and the door will stall. Taking advice from someone that went through this several times. Go to M.I.T.S van conversions in Glenn Rock ennsylvania and purchas a direct replacement cable. You will save yourself a lot of time and money. In my opinion you do not have a bad pulley. I am attaching a file to this email that contains a lot of information about the door closer. If you have any further questions, please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]. Glenn In a message dated 9/6/2015 2:02:00 P.M. I have a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan IMS Rampvan Conversion. I’m having problems w/ the cable staying on and my brother came out to replace the cable, this would be the 4th in less than a year (previous 3 were done by the dealer). The door worked great twice but then the cable (which wraps a certain way around the pulley on the motor shaft) criss-crossed so the door only opened part way. After further inspection of the pulley and old cables (which the coating was getting stripped off of) my brother noticed the pulley has gotten grooved from the bare cable. We think this is why the cables are wearing out. I had on old motor and we were going to swap the pulleys (the other one isn’t worn) and he couldn’t get it off the old motor. It came right off the motor that is on my van. I know my dealer, now United Access, won’t sell me a pulley but they’ll sell me a new motor for $1250.00 Any idea where I can buy it? Would it be an OEM part? Trying to contact a machine shop to fabricate one but the owner isn’t answering today………yes, Sunday of Labor Day weekend. J Nicki
