Joan, I like your observations. Good Press, Bad Press.... is all good. It get people thinking and perhaps, asking. Conversations can clarify the differences between individuals, including Paras and Quads. What will you say when approached by someone who says, "I just saw a movie about a Quad... is that how it is?" How will you respond ? Atta Girl Joan ! I feel rather differently about living life as a quadriplegic. None of us is able to know what other people do behind closed doors, nor do we know what pain, suffering, and agony other people go through. I have a friend who I feel has it much more difficult than I do. True, he has use of all of his limbs, and he can walk with the help of a walker. Because of an injury to his legs where they were totally crushed, he is in constant pain which has not responded to any of the treatments. He is only 35, was an agriculture teacher who was chosen as one of the state’s outstanding teachers. He is no longer able to work, has four children who can’t understand what happened to daddy. He tries so hard to keep involved in his children’s lives, be a great husband to his wife, but in recent months has lost over 60 pounds, cannot sleep more than an hour at a time. He’s not a quadriplegic, but I will take my life over his. Would I choose to be a quadriplegic! Absolutely not. But im one, I hate many aspects of this life, but I have chosen to make the best of it. I look up to all of you who have been quad so many many years, Bobbie, Nan, Lori, and too many others to name. My 25 years has also been a roller-coaster, but I will choose to ride it as hard as I can rest of my life. Sorry, I’ll get off my soapbox now.
