I used to use ICQ 1.7.2 and then Gerry's ICQ, but the problem was that I
couldn't get it to stay connected to a server for more than 3 minutes. I am
not sure that one can use ICQ 1.7.2 vvery well any more. You mightry try
Gerry's ICQ.

Otherwise I would suggest AIM of which there is an old version that works fine.
