Artur is correct. When mirabilis was aquired by AOL they did two things with the original protocol: A) Added a lot of extra service descriptors B) wrapped it inside the AOL protocol.
The only 'realistic' solution would be for some kind hearted soul to grab a copy of the open source projects for either a) centreICQ(the simplest) b) gaim (does msn/yahoo/icq/jabber/*.rest), c) licq .. and write an OS 7/8 interface to it. They just don't support the older protocols and noone is maintaining it for 68k except 68k linux/netbsd.
