The original 7.1 that came installed on my 660AV is the only OS I've
found that had voice Recognition software for the 040 AVs. I was
able to take the Speech portions from 7.1 and put them into OS 8.1.

Although I only tried it briefly I found Speech Recognition on a
C660AV to work pretty well. Not as good as on my 7500 w/300MHz G3
but that was more a matter of features than speed. Remember that a
660AV has a separate DSP that is doing the voice recognition.
