I can confirm by comparable experience, and it was the power supply. This is
my first suspicion, as yours. Outside of the (seemingly) obligatory PRAM
battery replace - seems to be a popular symptom these days - this is the
most likely culprit.

By removing the power supply (or at least , disassemble to the point of
being able to get at it), plugging it in and using a multimeter (or
voltmeter/VOM) to test its outage - nothing would of course = dead.

eBay would be my first shot - I saw a couple of them on there recently.

or nexcomp.com (off the top of my head)

Oh, yes. this is a very unusual case, and you have the TV card in there
also! the top is a 3-part process (4 including the infrared control box)
