hi highly-rated quad-listers,
I was subscribed to this wonderful list some time ago. I only
unsubscribed because the flow was too large to keep up with. Now, I
rejoined the list again, becasue I feel no one can give me more valuable
information than the quadlist.
I have a Performa 630 with internal CD and TV-card, 36 MB RAM, external
HD and ZIP drive. Recently, it refused to start up. Before the final
refusal, it has been 'hesitating' some time: Sometimes it reacted to the
power button, sometimes it did not. Often, it only started after several
attempts.
Now, it does not react anymore: We tried the keyboard power switch, the
power switch at the backside and the power switch on the remote control.
Nothing.
My hypothesis is that the power supply broke down:
* Can anybody confirm this hypothesis?
* How can I be sure it is the power supply?
* If so, Can I replace it myself, and where can I find (on-line) help
for this operation? I vaguely remember someone mentioning a web-site
dedicated to the replacement of the power supply in the performa 630. It
turned out you have to remove all other components first ;-( Is this
true? Does anybody know the web-site?
I'd like to thank all of you in advance for any valuable tips
Frank Karelse
