Well, some things don't upset it. I can't remember what I was doing that
made my 475 nose-dive into the desk but it did, a lot. I think I was
doing something silly on it though.

I'd still say stick with 7.1 for the best speed vs. stability balance.
7.6.1 is thae same speed as 7.5.5 but more stable. I started out with
7.5.5 on my LCIII back when it was still a III not a 475 (I bought a
scrap logic board for �4 and VRAM for �3 - bargain city!) and it was
very sluggish. I recently bought a new hard disk for the machine and it
had 7.6.1 on it so I decided to give it a go and it is now running
services to my network 24/7.

I use 8.1 on my 840av for the HFS+ facility. I will go back to 7.6.1
when the mammoth 40GB hard disk migrates to my 7300 I'm hoping to get.
