Aye. Now, about that ResEdit...System Suitcase and Finder were taken care of...how about any Enablers? Maybe try WishIWere to set the gestalt ID to something newer too. Hrmmm...what else... might be an extension it's checking a version on too, although I kinda doubt it. If you're feeling particularly ambitious, run the major components of an 8.1 install through HexEdit and search for "8.1" in them; see what you find. Might give you some ideas, anyhow.
