The battery is the largeish box stuck to the motherboard with velcro. If there isn't one, where the square of velro is with a four-pin connector near it (space for four pins, one will be missing) is where the battery should be.
The best two places to get a motherboard would be eBay and the swap list, though probably in reverse that order. Swap List is generally preferred.
