This is the first time I've actually heard of someone who FOUND
and HAS one of the five drive carriers! Perhaps you could toss
me a jpeg of that one!

Actually, I bought it from a LEM swap lister. It came from a WGS 9150, although it was an optional extra for a Quadra 950.

One other option is to use two more of the standard drive carriers stacked together. That way you can add a total of three drives.

I hope this works - it's my first use of an on-line photo service :-)

Set up a 7300-200 in
its place to handle the business chores from now on. Made for
better foot space under the desk where the 950 used to collect
dust and toe stubbings.

Hee, hee! But you can't get 6 disk drives in that case! With prices as the are why not just go for a G3 desktop?

I don't know how to do the RAID thing, but maybe will have to
find that out one of these days too. I thought those old machines
couldn't read anything larger than 2G drives? Must have something
to do with the RAID thing?

OS 6 has a 2Gb limit on the partition size. So you can use a larger drive so long as it has multiple partitions. I'm not sure what other limitations there are, but I was so pleased to find the REMUS 1.4 s/w because it is compatible with 68K and OS 7, and will handle up to 2TByte partitions! Previously I used AppleRAID on my WGS 9150 (yes, I like the big guys!). That will only work with a PPC and has a 4Gb partition max. FWB RAID toolkit will do 68K, but also has the 4Gb limit.

I think this is a prime example of how important it is NOT to throw away old s/w. It's the s/w that brings the magic to the retro-computer.
