I suppose. I'm still surprised that reading it as raw text from the repo is a concern. If it were somehow hard to read with markup, then I'd add a filter to the web site that did the rendering into HTML dynamically for display. That seems to me like a more lasting fix for at least that concern, regardless of what markup language is used.
