I suppose.

I'm still surprised that reading it as raw text from the repo is a
concern.  If it were somehow hard to read with markup, then I'd add a
filter to the web site that did the rendering into HTML dynamically for
display.  That seems to me like a more lasting fix for at least that
concern, regardless of what markup language is used.

If the problem is that "too few" people know how to use TeX effectively,
then, yeah, picking the current fad should cure that, at least until a
new one shows up.  ;-}
