Interesting. I think you might need to be looking at 5/7 or 6/9 size
speakers to get much out of them unless you're putting a sub in the boot,
and at that size I'd be worried about the weight

Might be worth thinking about getting a company who make speaker pods that
usually would go onto door cards to have a look at that before you go much
further, could be an easier option. There's a guy on XRTwo who can make a
gauge pod into either the outer dash trim or steering wheel shroud plastic

Does it have any effect on rear visibility?
