If it comes to that, I'll take my Focus' owners manual which states that 
it can safely tow up to 85% of its kerb weight. 

The Focus' kerb weight is approximately 1225Kg, +/- 40Kg so according to 
Mr Ford it should be safe to tow up to 1040Kg, give or take.

The Quantum weighs about 800Kg from memory, which leaves about 240Kg for 
the trailer...

I think I'll just get a train ticket to Bristol and hope it passes the 
MOT :)
