Ah yes I have done the same on my track prepared Dolomite Sprint (a well
known kettle) and it has transformed it and recently at Silverstone GP
circuit it actually lowered the temp on the longest straight.
I will make sure it has the lowest thermostat fitted too.
Thanks folks.

I have fitted a custom alloy rad and intercooler to my H4 turbo, but the
biggest cooling improvement came from ditching the original fit oil to water
cooler sandwich plate and replacing with a thermostatically controlled oil
to air cooler. I would recommend this as a first step, especially if you
don't want to cut holes, or larger holes in the bonnet.
Regards,
Steve

Thanks for the answers I will set parallel and fit some XR2 springs. The
engine is a Turbo and has a water type oil cooler similar to the ones
fitted to standard Pug 205 GTI's. Yes it does have top bonnet vents but
these are very small.
I will fit a proper water temp gauge as I do not trust the standard ones.
What rads do you guys use if you go on track with your cars.
