Not sure what engine you have as I am picking up this thread on a different
computer.
I have an 1800 Zetec on which I have used the standard RS1800 Ford system
including manifold from front to rear for the 11 years that I have had the
car on the road - This is very quiet, fits into the H4 channel exactly and
lasts for around 5 to 6 years at a time. This system is available through
various Factors at about half the Ford cost and lasts the same time. I have
got through one front section (c. £60) and two rear boxes (c. £100) in that
time, whilst the cat has remained intact - so far! (£250-£350).

I think i shall try and go for standard springs, does anyone know if
mk4 fiesta springs are interchangeable? Any good suppliers?
As for exhuasts I think as you suggest a custom made one may be the
best, I am unsure how loud the off the shelf stainless (performance)
systems are likley to be, as I want to quieten the car down a fair
bit. Thanks for the tip about the lug on the exhaust, it is a poor
design with no support to stop the twist, we did comment on that when
first fitting the current exhaust.
