Relatively speaking, this sounds quite reasonable against the quote that my son had from Toyota for the replacement of all disks and pads at a cost of £720, after having a standard service on his relatively new MPV to keep up the service record !!!! We did the job in less than 2 hours including changing the brake fluid for a parts cost of ~£170. Heavens knows what a head gasket would have cost at these rates. A friend down the road paid a similar sum to have their Peugeot 207 brakes serviced. Talk about daylight robbery - there must be a very stringent insurance payment to cover each job to warrant such high costs as the fitters do not get that rate.

I did mine last year and the parts were £20 (head set and set of bolts), Plus antifreeze, oil and filter. Labour wise I spent about 8 hours which included valve lapping and head decoking.
