I have had problems with stop solenoids on ford engines (works van for
one) i took out the solenoid, removed the plunger and refitted it, as
the ford dealer had to order one in as they "don't go wrong" so for a
few days we just stalled the engine to stop it (although you can
manually operate the the fuelling lever to stop the engine from under
the bonnet) it will play up intermittently for a few weeks then pack
in altogether. i would advise you to get a new stop solenoid and fit
it, they are not dear.
