That will be the small blue wire.
It should attach to another similar small blue wire in the main wiring loom
somewhere below the radiator via a rubber plug and socket.
It then goes through the main loom to one side of the alternator warning
light on the dashboard.

Hi
On my recently bought XR2 we have found that the alternator is not
charging at all. After checking for conections to the battery and
earth we decided that the alternator was at fault. After a lot of
hassle we got hold of a brand new one. However this still does not
charge the battery. So after much investiagtion we found one of the
wires leads to no where. The other 2 off the 3 pin plug seem to lead
to the starter solinoid. The battery light does not come on at all. So
my question is does any one have q wiring diagarm or could they tell
me where this small wire should go? (Its off the smaller of the pins)
