Hi Sean
As a bloke who has used a Dolomite sprint on track days since the mid 90's
and as a Sprint is a well known kettle I think I have an edge here.
If you have a heater fitted use it on track and if you dont plug a motorbike
rad in the loop that should have fed the heater as track days are a
nightmare for a car that tends to heat up. I have tinkered with the cooling
on my Sprint to such an extent that I actually saw the temp drop as we drove
flat out down the longest straight at Silverstone GP circuit, and when I
first started tracking back in the 90's it would go off the scale after a
couple of laps.
I have noticed a lot of kit cars do not cover in under the nosecone and also
do not cover around the entry to the rad to guide all the air scooped by the
grille.
My Sprint has an oil cooler which does help a lot.
Ignition timing can cause overheating if incorrect too as can old hoses that
have collapsed.
Good luck.

Thanks for the pointers. I have a trackday booked in a few weeks time,
so will look at it after that. It's a case of it it ain't broke, don't
fix.
Will the look for a new radiator and fan over the winter (might as
well change the hoses as well !!!!!).
