I had a lot of fun with these as well.
The main thing is to put them where the R clip on each side stops the transfer bar moving too far side to side. And that the R clip bears against the larger side of the top hat plastic bushes. You could have them both on the outside or both on the inside of the brackets but obviously not both on the same side. I think i actually drilled a new R clip hole n the tube on my 2+2 to get it right.

i took this pic as i was going to ask why the pedal shaft was jamming
and sat to one side on the through hole in the bulkhead

couldn't work it out as everything seemed to line up in front and
behind the bulkhead but the pedal push rod was pulling the tranfer bar
to one side
