i think he meant at a guess THERMO TEC THERMO-SLEEVE.. you can get it from europaspares I have some...
my clutch cable has gone where it was rubbing against the bulkhead.. but I have trimmed the bulk head back so that wasn't it this time. this time it was due to me not stopping the cable hitting the exhaust.. the sleeve wasn't good enough and it wore through as did the exhaust bandage from the 2 rubbing together.. once the sleeve had gone the outer and inner plastic of the clutch cable melted through.. this meant he inner cable was rubbing against the outer + it got wet - rusty and started rubbing and was getting stiff - thus why i had a suspicion t was going to go, even though i had by now held it away from the exhaust. I now cable tie it away from the exhaust and have wrapped it more in thicker heat shield material - fingers crossed it will stay ok - but another clutch cable on its way to keep in the boot! I remembered that you can pull the sierra pedal up, which releases the quadrant so you can spin it up to get the cable over. (I wish i had remembered this before removing the pedal box etc!) but even so managed to have the hole cable swapped and tied up etc within an hour really in the dark and -2c temp.. no steering wheel removal in the xtreme thankfully..
