I don't have the original one for the car and have been using an aftermarket
temp gauge. this has failed so I am going to reuse the dash one. I do not know
the donor for the ecu, it came from ebay some time ago. Do you have any idea
what pin this output will be on, I will meter it to see.

thank you.

The answer is, the same colour as the original one for the dash.
Otherwise, it’s a question of try it and see.
The gauges were matched to the sender (or the other way round) when the
cars were built, there are 4 or 5 different colour pairs.

If the Ecu came from a Mondeo then yes, if it came from a Escort or Fiesta
then no.
The Mondeo one will need buffering with a relay.

Subject: [Quantum Owners] Temperature sender
  I
have to fit a temp sender to the q. I have been supplied with two different
parts by the motor factor. One has a purple insert with resistances from 124 -
843, the other a black insert and 100 - 871. Which is the correct part for the
mkII fiesta dash (1.4)?

Also, is there an output from the ecu to drive the cooling fan(s)?
