Never seen it before on my 2+2/saloon
What is its use?
To stop current leaking back to the alternator? draining the battery
If so this means that all the current generated by the alternator goes
through this diode
It looks like you could take a high amp Diode solder it to connectors and
use shrink sleeve to get it waterproof
How about part nr. 395-3711 http://uk.rs-online.com 70A/100V

Subject: [Quantum Owners] Exciter Diode
After getting another flat battery on my Saloon, I really need to replace
the exciter diode that plug into the wiring from the alternator with the
proper diode. The original one fell apart and was replaced with the best
option I could find in Maplin, but this has failed twice.
Can anyone help me locate one as per the attached photo, or suggest a
suitable replacement?
It's cold in the Xtreme at this time of year!
Regards,
Steve
