Yes indeed, it's like the question on the Insurance Proposal form which asks if 
the kit car has been modified - what do we make of that?
It would seem the testing of towbars at MOT (added last year?) only checks 
whether the wiring function is correct, and that there are no visible flaws in 
the mechanical structure.
I'd like to think that in the event of this being an issue (eg somone being 
pulled up by Police or VOSA and a 'case being raised') that common sense would 
prevail - eg if there hasn't been a structural failure, and not likly to be 
there is no issue. I fear however that wouldn't be the case. A very grey area 
(unlike that of driving using a mobile, which I'm sure could be stamped out 
with suitable electrnics, but would cut out lots of revenue to 'phone 
providers) - Oops I shouldn't get political, sorry Jim.

  I have tow bars on my 2+2 and Coupe.  Coupe came with it fitted.  Never had a 
query at MOT and I never thought there would be an issue.  How can you have 
type approved accessories to a non-type approved car?  One of the benefits of a 
kit car is the ability to modify them as there is no standard.

    So, if your Quantum was registered pre-SVA then it's not a problem, i guess 
that covers most Quantums.
    So if Eddie makes it clear that they are for pre-1998 Quantums only then he 
should be covered, i bought a towbar for my 1996  Mondeo that wasn't type 
approved but i could have easily put it onto a later car.

    If somebody buys one from Eddie and puts it on a later post SVA/IVA car is 
that his problem ?
