If the vehicle is not subject to SORN it surely must be insured although I guess there is scope for the argument that it is the driver who is insured rather than the car itself. If it is towed with an A Frame the towed vehicle would not need a driver or a steersman/ woman. A vehicle with no MOT can be driven to a test station for an MOT test provided an appointment has been made. I don't recall any condition that limits the choice of MOT station. I don't think it matters whether it is towed or driven to the test station. I did ask if anyone knew what limits there are on towing cars as opposed to trailers for instance in cases where a vehicle has broken down.
