Some 90s Saxos have an interesting setup - it's a hydraulic system, but the pump is electrically driven, and is mounted directly to the front subframe.
This offers 2 possibilities; either using the system in its entirety, or just use the pump with the remaining components from a Ford. (after checking fluid requirements etc.) It would also allow a lot of flexibility in pump location - with suitable pipes, the pump could be located anywhere.
