The differences around the front suspension are the dia of the bottom of
the shock is larger on the Mk3.5 and the taper on the balljoint on the
wishbone is a different.
From elsewhere on the net "I believe a mk3 hub takes a 43.8mm shock
absorber and a mk3.5 hub takes a 45.5mm shock absorber"
Can't promise this is correct though.
I would have thought if your car was a Kit in the box it probably was
based on Mk3.5 parts.
Actually, I'm not certain they used the Zetec in the Mk3 Fiesta (It was
the CVH) so if you find a Zetec Mk3 Fiesta it should be a Mk3.5
Don't think about the Mk4's as they are completely different in these areas.

Thanks to all who responded, the logical thing for me is to go with
all the ford parts as suggested, as modifying other manufacturers
parts to fit would involve engineering skills I don't have.
I cannot identify whether Mk 3 or 3.5 as no donor car was involved.
Engine was sourced direct from Ford and most other parts were
new. Is there a difference between the two regarding the wishbones ? (
I know that there are PAS and non PAS versions )
Sorry about the delay, I did try to post an answer earlier but it fell
down a cyber hole (my fault )

Basically, you need to find somebody breaking a Mk3 or Mk3.5
(needs to match your donor) Fiesta Zetec 1.6 or 1.8
You need to swap, the steering rack, (possibly the gaiter and
lower steering column), the bracket on the front of the engine
with attached pulley, the auxiliary drive belt.
Also, strictly speaking the front wishbones are different between
the power steering and non power steering cars but you may get
away without swapping these.
You need the power steering pump and all the pipes from the power
steering car as well.

Have recently acquired an H4 and find the steering excessively

to power steering, (parts required and
procedures involved ) ? Engine is 1.8 Zetec, car built in
1999 with mostly new parts, so no donor-car information.
I am sure someone must have had this problem before, as my
senior partner is unable to drive it as it is !
Any help greatly appreciated.
