Sorry posted to quick last time. Putting back the strength lost would be very difficult as laminating within the 'box' section would be challenging with lack of space in which to wet out the GRP. Again I would not recommend adding steel to the structure as there will be differences in the expansion and contraction rates which in turn could add further issues. What I would recommend, is that if you intend to install subs in this area, it may be best to build a box that fits the area and install into that. This way, if you design the box correctly, you would be able to remove it to carry goods, passengers if needed and return the sub box when required. If trimmed to match the car, it would hide away really well and of course, not cause any structural issues at all. Eddie
