I got this;
Ford Sierra Brake Master Cylinder repair kit 1108
from biggred4u on ebay.
They swore blind that is was the same as the kit needed for the XR2 Girling
(short black) master cylinder.
I don’t know if it did fit ‘cos when I started stripping the master cylinder
down several things threatened to break, so I replaced the whole unit (£300).

Subject: [Quantum Owners] 2+2 XR2 Brake Master Cylinder & Servo...HELP!

Hi all, my 2+2 has just failed it's MOT due to a spongy brake pedal, after some
investigation it appears the master cylinder seals are shot & as such is
filling the servo up with brake fluid.
I have searched virtually everywhere for a service kit but have been told that
these are now extinct for the later (1988 > 1989) XR2 so my car is now sitting
at my mechanics in bits whilst alot of head scrathing is taking place.
Someone told me that a non ABS Mondeo set up could be used although
considerable work is required to fit this & the bar running along the bulk head
needs to be made adjustable to enable the brake pedal to be adjusted but this
seems to be more work than I'm willing to investigate further, has anyone else
had this problem with a late XR2 based Quantum & if so how did you overcome
this or does anyone know where a service kit could be obtained from or does
another service kit from a different manufacturer fit?
Seems totally crazy that such a simple part from an 80's Ford cannot be
obtained & makes me wonder how both MK2 XR2 owners & kit car owners are keeping
their cars on the road if such simple service parts are no longer available?
Any help with this will be very, very much appreciated.
Cheers, Paul.
