Hello, All, Work has got in the way, as has IT incompetence. Shots of the engine bay still pending. Mind you, she did still pass her MoT test two week-ends ago without a hitch, so that's nice!
I have been learning more and finding out more. one of those learned things is that replacement off-side engine mountings for the 1.6 Zetec from Ford are quite horrifically expensive - £103 = VAT for the off-side rear mounting (Finis reference 1014050) and for the off-side front mounting it's £186 + VAT if pre-1994 (Finis reference 6801947) or 1994 - 1996 it's £236.27 + VAT (Finis reference 7166644) ! Does anyone know of any suitable after-market alternatives. I believe from another thread that the gear-box mountings can be substituted for those from the Diesel variants - although, having had a late-model MkIII Diesel, they do look rather different. Jim, you seem to be a fount of great wisdom and experience on all things Quantum and technical. I wonder, without imposing, would it be possible to E-mail you directly about some of these many issue? To be honest, what I'd really find useful would be to drive round and have a sage eye cast over these areas and an authoritative diagnosis given. I'm always happy to travel and happy to repay the favour in terms of labour or even a consultation fee! Kind regards, Steve and The Blue Pig.
