I snipe (manually, not using a program) everything i buy on Ebay unless it finishes at a stupid time. Bidding earlier just gives people a chance to have a think and up their bid.
If everybody placed bids of the maximum they wanted to pay then sniping wouldn’t work, but for some reason people don’t, they like bumping their bids up when they get outbid.
