I have a nice little H4 currently running a 1600 Zetec Silver Top. As my son gets nearer and nearer to his 17th birthday, I'm looking into options for insurability. I want to explore The Possibility of swapping the existing engine and gear box for a Black top 1.25 Zetec S engine and box from a newer vehicle, que Should be lighter in weight and not that much less powerful. I know lots of people go the other way and fit larger Zetecs ... 1.8 or 2 liter ... but I want to downsize at this stage. What are the Differences Between the silver and black top engines Regarding fitting? Has anyone done this swap? Is it reasonably possible? What parts need changing? I want Also to look into re-deploying the 1600 Silver top in my other Q, a saloon: after all, there's nothing wrong with it and my saloon has a 1989 vintage CVH engine of unknown overall condition, so any thoughts on That would Also be useful. Thanks! Bill J
