If you have vinyl roof, then they do shrink - happened on both my old MG, and the 2+2. Now got a mohair / double duck (cannot remember which!), This will not shrink. My solution was to put rubber strips as per for sealing to door fram on the top of the windows - this helped, and also waterproof seat covers inside with a chamios leather to dry them with ;-) With regards to the struts, I have got a 'lift and click' one from an MG Midget. http://www.classiccarexchange.co.uk/boot-stay-strut-p-457.html The eBay one has finished - but it shows a good picture of the unit. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MG-Midget-Austin-Healey-boot-strut-/121166092874 Don't know where you are, but both Barrie @ 'Chase MG', and Paul @ PBW near Birmingham were really helpful.
