Hello everyone
I now have a running 2+2. I got another car electrician in and he got Kitty lighting up like Blackpool illuminations. He said that there were earth problems and that a lead was on the wrong polarity. This was pretty much as you suggested, thank you for your support. As a suplimentary question, my tachometer has stopped working (some time ago) and the auto electrician told me that he thought that there was a connection on the alternator that may have come off. Is he right? The engine is a 90`s Ford diesel fitted after the original one failed at 25,000 miles.
