I did exactly what I said The problem is most MOT people who pick up the phone don't know one kit car from another. If they actually got up off their rear ends they should know the VOSA (who over see and inspect MOT centers) requirements as requested by DVLA. An engineers report from an MOT station is what you need I will be doing this again in a few months to another Q car I don't understand why you can't find anyone who knows what needs to be done. I will say that a good independent MOT station rather than a national company is a better choice. A VIC is to confirm that a damaged car is returned to the road and repairs have been carried out to the highest quality, also to identify ringers that's why its a Vehicle Identification Check to make sure a stolen vehicle is not used or a cut and shut. If you change an engine in a none kit cat you still have to do the same procedure of a report and change of details to Swansea so the details of the car are updated. ie engine no matches V5. You need to find an MOT center that deal, service's Kit and Alternative cars and know what to do it's a straight forward procedure. I'm so sad that people like yourself struggle with things like this when there is really no need. !st install new engine and book MOT ask to see a manager and book a engineering report on the installation at the same time that states the engine and all work has been carried out to road worthy standards listing the new engine No.on the report. 2nd fill in change of details on V5 listing the new engine No. now installed and the cc. 3rd send report and V5 to Swansea has to be original report not a photo copy You do not have to send MOT cert as this will already on there system. If all's well you should get your V5 back with change of details which you much check if they make a mistake that is done to you if you do not spot it Job Done.. If you have any more problems come to Kent and I'll book you an MOT with a company that is switched on and has been awarded Garage of the year 2014.
