Hello all, This is my first time getting in touch with the owners club, so I hope I'm asking in the right place!
I would just like to quickly introduce myself. My name is Ryan and I am 18 years old, ever since a young age I have been very fond of MK1/2 fiestas in particular but have always found the insurance premiums to be way out of reach as a young person. After discovering a few posts from owners of these cars, I found that the Quantum could be the perfect alternative - something that would be fun to drive, but cheap and easy to maintain; not to mention the much more attractive styling :-) After much searching, I had the opportunity to view a saloon model this afternoon, and have to say that I was very impressed with the car overall. I hope that someone will be able to help with the query I have: as the car is currently registered as a Fiesta XR2 (which I assume was originally the donor vehicle), I would like to know whether this would affect getting an insurance policy through the owners club, because it is currently registered as a Ford. I understand that there is a special policy available to younger drivers, offered by certain insurers in connection with the club. Also, the car no longer has a 1.6 engine fitted, so is correctly registered with the engine it currently has (a 1.1 litre ohv). Any help with this would be most appreciated, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
