I have (had?) an aftermarket stick-on rear window heater on the Rickman, but each year it seems to detach itself a little more- Maybe the glue isn't heat resistant? As for the connectionon your screen ...... Are you testing it disconnected? is it possible the probes on the meter are pushing against the connector and completing the connection, which 'springs apart' without any pressure on it, or breaks due to the weight (albeit small) or the connectors/wire pulling down? Have you tried using tme meter with the screen connected and switched on?

Subject: [Quantum Owners] Rear Screen heater Saloon

Dear All,

Just thinking out aloud about the saloon Rear Screen heater. Mine has voltage at the connectors and resistance of 1.4 K Ohms across the screen. But it does not seem to de-mist at all. I thought one connector was damaged and repaired it. Is it possible that a repair can ‘connect’ and test OK but not ‘CONNECT’ and carry current? Thoughts anyone.

In general the pattern of de-mister conductors is designed for a hatch tailgate with a section for the rear wiper and large areas you want in the saloon are uncovered. I was thinking of an alternative anyway. How about an aftermarket adhesive old style heater for the screen? I have fitted one in the dim and distant past and it did work. Not very subtle though. Possibly electric fan heaters fitted blowing up the screen as a solution? Any experiences/ideas anyone?

Derek
